Flower Power
North of Preston Flower Club, which is affliliated to the NAFAS (National Association of Flower Arranging Societies), meets on the third Wednesday of each month (except August) at St. Martin's Hall, Broadway, Fulwood at 2.15 pm.

The meetings consist of a flower arranging demonstration given by an Area or National Demonstrator followed by a raffle for the arrangements, which are all stunning and well worth winning.

We have recently been on a trip with Lytham Flower Club to the National Show at Harrogate and we hope to have more trips next year.

New members and visitors are always welcome. Annual subscriptions are £24 due in January. Visitors fee £4.

MPs' Expenses and the next General Election

We've started work on a page dedicated to MPs' expenses. It may seem a little late in the day to start, but a general election approaches and we may be able to offer some useful comment or information. Our approach will not be party political but will focus on the issues of integrity, judgement and the general fitness of potential candidates to be an MP.

Dukes theatre & cinema. Worth the journey. This Lancaster based theatre has acquired a well-deserved reputation for innovation and entertainment. We're fans of the summer outdoor productions in Williamson Park and the family Christmas show is particularly popular. Lots of mainstream and independent movie screenings.

Preston Impact Youth Group. Impact is a Catholic Church supported initiative which brings young people together for fun and action. It's run by young people and wants to bring about change on matters that affect young people. For 13 - 17 year olds.

Wicked Dynamic Youth. WDY  is a youth group for 11 - 14 year olds which meets every fortnight on a Thursday. They aim to have fun, undertake group activities, have weekends away and assist charities. Like Preston Impact Youth Group, they are part of a wider Impact grouping.

Our site of the month is the House of Commons

The House of Commons introduction doesn't mention the MPs' expenses scandal, but the expense claims of any particular MP can be viewed and downloaded via  Allowances by MP. This pages provides a list of all MPs with links to some of their expense claims. At the time of writing the Metropolitan Police Service are apparently investigating a small number of MPs for possible fraud.
